The three-wheeled motorcycle ambulance (Mom’s Van) pilot project was implemented in rural areas of Bangladesh and Burkina Faso to improve access to care for women in obstetric emergencies. The main objective of this project was to determine the acceptability and feasibility of setting up these motorcycle ambulances. The University of Montreal’s Research Center (CHUM Research Center) worked with the International Centre for Research on Diarrhoeal Diseases in Bangladesh and the Primary Health Care Directorate of the Ministry of Health in Bangladesh to implement this project.
