This study aimed to assess the population effectiveness of the Scaling-up malaria interventions program, which combined community distribution of insecticide-treated bed nets and therapeutic home-based therapeutic management of malaria cases. The objectives were to assess the mortality and morbidity averted in children under 5, and to determine the progressiveness of the intervention (does it benefit the poorest and most vulnerable children?). The teams collected information from 7,600 households (including about 7,000 children under 5). These households have thus participated in a demographic monitoring system. They were followed every six months and distributed in a rural territory (18 villages) and urban (city of Kaya) area of a health district. Coupled with an in-depth implementation analysis, the project aimed to understand the local implementation of the intervention, the reactions of the actors and the influence of the context on the effectiveness of the program.
