Quebec Ministry of Health and Social Services
As part of the Quebec government’s «Committed to Haiti» program, implemented through the 2023-2026 Support
Plan, USI received $500,000 CAD in funding from MSSS for three sub-projects over a three-year period:
1. Support Project for the Northern Health Department in Haiti
-Focuses on improving access to primary healthcare for the most vulnerable groups.
– Implemented by the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP) through the Northern Health Directorate.
– Collaboration with Women’s Committees for Healthcare Services and the Departmental Coordination of the
Ministry for Women’s Affairs and Women’s Rights.
2. Visual Health for All: Supporting Quality Eye Care Services in Cap-Haïtien
– Implemented by the School of Optometry at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of UEH.
– In collaboration with the Cathy Pearson & Fortune Previl Memorial Clinic.
3. Strengthening Crisis Response Capacity for a Resilient Healthcare System (to come)
– A project supporting crisis management training for Haitian healthcare managers.
– Training conducted in collaboration with ESPUM and the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of UdeM
– Implemented through the DESS in Health Systems Management program and the National Unit for Health
Emergency Management of MSPP.
