Description

This project aimed to continue the support from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) in the context of previous projects in Kayes (Support for improving reproductive health at the community level, supporting agency: USI) and in the three regions of Northern Mali (Support for the health and social development program). It aimed to improve health in these three regions (Kayes, Ségou, Sikasso), focusing mainly on women’s and children’s health. The objectives were to:
1) improve the management of health services by key actors (community health associations, local authorities and decentralized state structures in health and social development);
2) Improve the quality of social and health services offered to populations in the three regions, with particular attention to women and children;
3) increase the use of preventive and curative health services by these populations.
The direct beneficiaries, who are also “key actors and actresses” of the project are:
a) professionals from the State’s decentralized services in the health and social development sectors of the three regions concerned by the intervention;
b) FENASCOM and its regional and local divisions;
c) the members of the decentralized communities involved in the Circle Management Councils and the municipal councils of these regions.
The indirect beneficiaries are the populations of these regions, especially women and children.
