Since 2014, the government of the Republic of the Congo has been involved in a large-scale project to support the development of human resources in health, funded by the French Agency for Development. This project is part of a process to empower the Ministry of Health and Population to effectively perform the various functions related to human resources in health. The USI supports the training of paramedical staff with appropriate qualifications and skills to provide quality health services that meet the health needs of the population. The objectives of the project are to support stakeholders in the design and implementation of: 1) a new governance of paramedical education; 2) a pedagogical and organizational reform of training. Several regulatory and legal documents have been developed to facilitate the introduction of the Licence-Master-Doctorate (LMD) system, in the form of a pilot experiment, for three paramedical training programs (Bachelor’s degrees in nursing, biomedical sciences and obstetrics sciences).
