The project was implemented in three parts: production quality development, product marketing and quality and safety control in three or four provinces of the three regions of Vietnam. The strategies included training in Vietnam, graduate studies in risk analysis at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, technical expertise to develop HACCP-based models for relevant product files (meat, vegetables), to support pilot projects and to strengthen the capacity of laboratories and inspection systems. The expected outcomes were: 1. Improved agricultural/food production and processing practices adopted 2. Capacity of local partners to design, develop and monitor and control improved safety and quality standards for certain agricultural products and food 3. Markets for better and safer agriculture.
